Job opportunities

Remote position for a front-end / full-stack web application developer (Javascript, React, Node)

DataCapture is a company with a 24 year history in developing leading edge industrial and business software systems. We work across the UK and abroad in market areas such as nuclear waste management, power generation and oil and gas. We use both Ignition by Inductive Automation and our own web-based development platform to create systems that gather, store and display data for our customers.

We are looking for a mid to senior level web application developer who is passionate about front-end (and optionally back-end) technologies. We expect you to be able to demonstrate examples of work you’ve completed using these technologies. This is a key role for DataCapture - once employed you will be given free reign to help build our web development platform into something exceptional.

DataCapture is a meritocracy. Knowledge is key and you’ll need to come with an open mind and always be ready to learn something new. Working in the industrial sector means having both the technical skills to develop systems and an understanding of how people use the systems we develop so that the systems we install become indispensable in helping them achieve their goals.

This is a remote position so where you are based is not important as long as you have (or can get) a fast Internet connection. There must be no reason you cannot pass UK government SC security vetting.

The salary offered will be competitive and dependent on skill level and experience.

Requirements

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Expert-level knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Experience building web apps with React - other similar frameworks will be considered
  • Comfortable with tooling such as Mercurial/Git, Babel and Webpack

Desirable extras

  • Knowledge of Python
  • Back-end experience (SQL, NodeJS, Linux, Docker)
  • Typescript experience
  • Graphic design experience

Personal

  • You take pride in your work and in the quality and readability of your code
  • You’ll be happy to fit in with our company standards and how we work and also enjoy contributing to those standards
  • You want to keep learning and developing your skills, both professionally and personally
  • You are happy admitting when you don’t know something and will accept help to fill in gaps in your knowledge
  • You delight in passing on knowledge you have to your co-workers
